The Oscar Anderson Museum

In 1915 when Anchorage was a railroad camp of tents; the first permanent framed private family built home is the Oscar Anderson House. Located downtown on M adjacent to the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, it is the only Anchorage house museum.

During guided tours, you will learn Anchorage history and of the builder Oscar Anderson the cities butcher, Swedish immigrant, Alaska pioneer and his family. The house has been restored to the 1915 to 1925 time period and contains many original fixtures and items owned by the Anderson family. The Oscar Anderson House Museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and of the family artifacts is a Hallet and Davis player Piano.

Guided tours take about 45 minutes
